Class Focus: Building Better Habits by Connecting Your Spine to your Largest Joints
What You Will Learn:
Keeping the spine in mind and core breathing
How hip range of motion affects the spine
The Beginning SomaYoga series will introduce you to somatic yoga through the principles of learning to pay attention, building better habits, progressing well – progressing compassionately, and staying current & enjoying your freedom.
This third week we bring our focus to building better habits by specifically connecting the spine to the largest joints in the body. You will experience the feeling of core breathing, find comfort laying on the floor, and explore another foundational movement of Somatics: Backlift.
Mindful somatic movements will be explored for mobility, along with postures like crocodile and cobra, warrior I to warrior II, tree pose, and gentle twists. We invite you into this practice that encourages finding the ‘just right’ movement and posture for your unique body, and personal freedom and agency is the exploration – which is fundamental for therapeutic benefit.
