Jo Temte
Jo’s first encounter with yoga was through meeting a friend’s mother while she was in headstand! This was the late 1970s and totally out of character for mothers of the time, at least in her neighborhood. (What was this madness?)
Turns out, Mardi was a yoga instructor! She helped Jo think very differently about what our bodies and minds are capable of and sparked her yoga interest.
While Jo loves all styles of movement, she keeps gravitating back to yoga and all it has to offer the mind, body and spirit.
Jo is an American Council on Exercise (ACE) group fitness certified and have been teaching group fitness for over 20 years - step aerobics, HIIT, Zumba, kickboxing, weight training, yoga and Pilates.
In 2018, she completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training with Alex Pfeiffer at The Studio in Madison. She received Pilates basic mat certification from the Mind Body Institute, 20-hour Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) training, and also hold Mind Body and Pain Free Movement Specialist certificates from ACE. Her special interests are hands, feet, pain-free movement, functional mobility and healthy aging. She also enjoys working with at-risk youth.
Outside of the studio, you can find Jo in her garden or kayaking, paddle boarding, playing violin, or hiking with her family and dogs. She looks forward to practicing with you!
